The First Storyteller

An original, imaginative fantasy fairytale you can only see if you close your eyes. Acoustic
theatre for blind, visually impaired, and sighted children from five years of age.

The first project of its kind in Slovak puppetry!

This performance is a theatrical adaptation of a Chinese folk fairytale for all children from
five years of age – sighted, visually impaired, as well as blind. It is the story of a blind boy
whose father (the Prince) exiled him from the shire because of his visual impairment, and who
was then raised by wild animals in the forest.

This performance is put on as part of the MOFEM project – the Theatre of Mobility, Emotionality, and Flexibility. This project initiates a public awareness campaign whose goal is to break through the isolation of disadvantaged groups who are often enclosed in their own
communities, and to put the idea of art without barriers into practice. It picks up a theatrical tradition begun in the 90s – the theatre of tolerance. The project aims to communicate topics related to visual impairment through a performance that is attractive to the audience, and thus contribute to a better quality of living and understanding within a community of various target groups, as well as to incorporate theatrical projects that reach beyond and broaden the usual repertoire.

Supported by the Slovak Art Fund using public funds.
