Subject: Road Number 5 is the name of a TWIGA Studio project. The project addresses myths and facts regarding gender-based domestic violence against women. It follows on from the theatre’s successful happenings such as Old Woman Mysteries, Vagina Monologues in 2004 and in 2003. We collaborated on the project with non-profit women’s organizations in Slovakia (Fenestra, MyMamy, Žena v tiesni, EsFem…). The performance took place in shopping centers in Slovak cities from November 25, 2011 (International Day of Combating Violence Against Women) as part of sixteen days of civic activism. The aim of the theatrical happening was to support the fight to protect victims of violence, to protest against any violence of person against person, and to talk about the fact that violence affects each and every one of us, regardless of status, religion, age, race and gender.
